Castle

The House of Křinečtí of Ronov set up the castle in the 16th century. Later it was inherited by the Harants of Polžice and Bezdružice. In 1701 the House of Harrachs bought the castle and extended it to the present form in the years 1714 and 1895 (the original castle had only a west wing with a clock tower). During the Second World War their property was confiscated and the family of Harrachs was persecuted by the Germans. After the war the building and lands have gone to the state of Czechoslovakia. Today it houses a Museum of the Krkonoše Mountains with an exposition of the history of skiing.
